Get set for Punjab Kala Utsav

LUDHIANA : The five-day Punjab Kala Utsav in collaboration with Punjab Kala Parishad is all set to take off from Monday at Punjab Agricultural University. The cultural extravaganza will include art exhibition, inter-college competitions besides soulful renditions from famous Punjabi folk singers like Gurmeet Bawa and Mohammad Sadeek . The event will be inaugurated by PAU vice-chancellor, B S Dhillon, at the Wheat Auditorium. A photo exhibition titled, ‘Gaddiyaan Wale’ at the Mohinder Singh Randhawa Gallery will mark the start of the the utsav.

The session will also witness an all women poetry recitation to mark the death centenary of famous Punjabi poetess Amrita Pritam. An inter-college cultural procession competition starting from the PAU’s rural museum will be the highlight of a colourful evening, followed by an elaborate stage set for folk orchestra, folk songs and folk dances at the open air theatre. Sardar Kahan Singh Pannu, secretary, agriculture and farmers welfare will be the chief guest, while Surjit Patar, chairman, Punjab Kala Parishad will preside over the event. Punjabi plays will be staged every evening from 5 pm onwards at the Pal Auditorium.
