COIMBATORE: City police arrested two students of a private arts and science college near Nava India here for possession of 1.5kg of ganja for sale.

Peelamedu (law&order) police inspector V Selvaraj and team had received information about C Thirupathi from Perundurai in Erode district and J Ramkumar of Ramamurthypudur in Salem district, who were allegedly supplying the contraband to college students. “Thirupathi is a second year BCom student and Ramkumar is a final year BCA student in the college. They were staying in a rented room at Peelamedu,” a police officer said.

Police recovered ganja packets from their bags and immediately took them to the police station on Saturday. They were arrested and remanded in judicial custody. “Thirupathi’s elder brother Kumaresan has been supplying ganja to him, which he used to sell to college students. We have registered a case against Kumaresan, who is absconding. A special team has been formed to nab him,” the officer added.
