NTA to double NEET exam centres to maintain social distancing


Following the announcement of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) exam date, one of the vital largest challenges for the National Testing Agency (NTA) is to manage the pen-and-paper exam for around 15 lakh applicants while following the social distancing norms owing to the coronavirus outbreak. The exam will likely be conducted on July 26.


According to stories, the NTA will now lodge to conducting the exam at around 6000 exam centres, versus across the 3000 test centres planned for standard stipulations. Now, two scholars will have a minimal distance of two metres between them. As NEET is an offline, pen-and-mode exam, it is going to be conducted at the same time in all the test centres, unlike JEE Main or JEE Advanced, that are computer-based tests and will also be conducted in multiple shifts.

The NTA may also build up the collection of shifts and upload around 200 exam centres for JEE Main to maintain social distancing. The JEE Advanced will likely be conducted at around 600 test centres and there will not be an build up in the collection of exam centres as only around 2 lakh scholars qualify for JEE Advanced.


Kendriya Vidyalayas, CBSE-affiliated faculties, engineering colleges and state govt colleges are typically selected as exam centres for NEET, however the company may require more time to identify 3000 new exam centres.
