WB test numbers rise after govt-NICED talks

The Bengal executive has began sending extra samples to ICMR-NICED from Sunday for Covid-19 exams. The numbers rose to 60 on Sunday against 47 samples despatched via the state for trying out in final 3 days. The spike in figures comes after NICED Kolkata director Shanta Dutta expressed fear over “less samples” coming to NICED for exams and spoke to health department officers. “Health department officers said they'll be sending us extra samples. We won 60 samples on Sunday. This will likely be scaled up further.” Dutta said, “At the moment now we have 27,000 check kits.” The NICED director said 7,500 trying out kits had been given to the Bengal till now.
