Pat Cummins prioritises T20 World Cup over IPL

MELBOURNE: With cricket going through an uncertain future because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Australian pace spearhead Pat Cummins wish to see the T20 World Cup at home being held over the profitable IPL in which he would enter as the most expensive international buy.

Cummins was the most expensive international buy within the IPL on the public sale in December when Kolkata Knight Riders shelled out a whopping Rs 15.50 crore for his products and services.

"The T20 World Cup is something we've spoken about for the best part of two or three years. The (ODI) World Cup in 2015, that was absolutely a career highlight for me and I wasn't even playing in the final. I'd love to see that go ahead," Cummins was once quoted as pronouncing through the 'Australian Associated Press'.

Fiji rugby avid gamers arrested for breaching coronavirus self-isolation rules

Two Fiji rugby avid gamers have been arrested for ignoring the Pacific country's coronavirus self-isolation rules, with local authorities pronouncing their "irresponsible behaviour" could be reported to rugby's international governing body. PM Frank Bainimarama accused the avid gamers of striking "the whole of Fiji at risk". A participant had returned from Singapore and is now in isolation.

"That's probably the big tournament this year for international cricket ... I'd love for that to happen in a perfect world and if I was to be really greedy, I'd love for the IPL to happen as well."

There isn't any definitive word at the IPL yet after it was once postponed to April 15. With coronavirus circumstances continuing to upward thrust globally, it's not likely the cash-rich league can be organised anytime quickly.

Former England batsman Kevin Pietersen has counsel that the IPL must kick-start the cricketing season and be held sooner than the T20 World Cup, scheduled in October-November.
