Complaints of child marriages in Mysuru on the rise

Even as India fights coronavirus, one of the most social evils troubling the country for decades – child marriage – remains to be practiced in some economically and socially backward spaces of Karnataka. Taking advantage of lockdown restrictions, villagers in Mysuru district are engaging in child marriages in temples. The district has reported ten such proceedings this month up to now, according to information from Mysuru Childline. Most of these child marriages are stopped after intervention by way of the government.
