Complaints of child marriages in Mysuru on rise

Even as India fights coronavirus, one of the most social evils troubling the rustic for decades – child marriage – is still practiced in some economically and socially backward areas of Karnataka. Taking advantage of lockdown restrictions, villagers in Mysuru district are accomplishing child marriages in temples. The district has reported ten such court cases this month so far, in line with data from Mysuru Childline. Most of these child marriages are stopped after intervention via the government.
