Africa’s rare mountain gorillas also at virus risk

NEW DELHI: As the coronavirus infects extra other people around the globe, conservationists are caution of the risk to any other susceptible species: Africa’s endangered mountain gorilla.

Congo’s Virunga National Park, house to about a third of the sector’s mountain gorillas, is barring guests until June 1, citing “advice from clinical experts indicating that primates, including mountain gorillas, are likely at risk of headaches arising from the Covid-19 virus”. Neighboring Rwanda is also quickly shutting down tourism and research actions in three national parks which are house to gorillas and chimpanzees. Mountain gorillas are susceptible to some respiration sicknesses that afflict people. A not unusual chilly can kill a gorilla, in line with the World Wide Fund for Nature.
