Ladies coaches shed ghunghat for office-wear

To keep up with the changing times, Western Railway is modernising the brand used to mark girls’s coaches. The image of a woman with a saree pallu over her head, which currently marks all compartments reserved for girls, is to make manner for a lady in a proper swimsuit.

Apart from the exchange in the logo, posters of inspiring girls like badminton big name Saina Nehwal, cricketer Mithali Raj and astronaut Kalpana Chawla, with details in their achievements, can also be displayed throughout the coaches. So a long way, two 12-coach rakes were remodelled with the brand new logo while some other two are expected to roll out in a couple of weeks.

The redesigning of the brand started after a typical inspection through WR General Manager AK Gupta two months in the past wherein he felt that the logos and signages on trains had to be more distinguished. After officers set out for the task, they realised that the image of girl in a saree didn't adequately reflect the woman of today.

Chief PRO of WR, Ravinder Bhakar, told Mirror, "The idea was to adopt an icon that will do justice and represent today's women in this city, who are independent and successful."

WR officers then were given on to the task of zeroing in on a design that would change the sooner one. Several pictures have been designed through an internal team of the railways and the senior officers licensed the only with the swimsuit and the palms folded in entrance, which they felt mirrored the assured, fashionable Indian girl.

The new logo is also greater to be sure that commuters do not mistake it for a common compartment. The pink diagonal stripes that mark a first-class compartment have also been enhanced. Coaches reserved for senior voters and physically handicapped commuters can be marked in yellow.

All the 110 rakes on WR will due to this fact be painted with the brand new logo as and once they go through periodic overhauling.
