Italian Open: Federer saves match points to beat Coric, enters quarter-finals


ROME: World quantity three Roger Federer stored two fit issues to advance previous Croatian Borna Coric into the quarter-finals of the Italian Open on Thursday.


Federer came thru 2-6, 6-Four, 7-6 (nine/7) in opposition to 13th seed Coric after previous beating Portugal's Joao Sousa 6-Four, 6-3 in the second one round to make up time after rain wiped out play on Wednesday.


Federer, a four-time finalist in Rome, next meets either Greek eighth-seed Stefanos Tsitsipas or Italian Fabio Fognini, seeded 6th, for a place within the semi-finals.
