Five medical colleges approved by MCI in Telangana

HYDERABAD: The Medical Council of India (MCI) has approved five medical schools with 150 seats every within the state of Telangana. Among them are the Nalgonda medical college and the Suryapet medical college within the government sector and within the private sector - Patnam Mahender Reddy college Chevella, Mamata Medical College Bachupally and Surabhi Medical college Siddipet had been approved.

With the brand new approvals coming within the total seats within the 10 government medical schools within the state and the 22 private medical schools is now 4600. Of these 1550 seats are in government schools whilst the 3050 are in private schools.

While the MCI's approval was sought by the state government for starting MBBS lessons at Suryapet and Nalgonda medical schools for the educational 12 months 2019-2020, the two had been in the past sanctioned by the health department. The addition of seats will likely be a boon for meritorious students who can not afford to pay the costs of personal schools, even as the collection of seats within the private medical schools has increased too.
