Woman forced to drink phenyl by 'friend'

AHMEDABAD: A 36-year-old woman from Vejalpur on Thursday filed a grievance towards a person, declaring that he had pressured her to drink phenyl as a result of she had refused to provide him money. The woman stated she had befriended the person on a social media platform five years in the past. The complainant, Priya Mehta, a resident of Suleh Bungalows close to Shrinandnagar, stated in her FIR that the person, Bhavesh Acharya, had sent her the friendship request.

After chatting for round a month, Acharya asked for Mehta’s address and started meeting her at her home in Vejalpur. “As my husband used to work in Vadodara at a non-public financial institution, Acharya helped me do family work,” stated Mehta, a mom of an 11-year-old lady. “Acharya was like a family member and he used to come back home even if my husband was round.”

Later, Acharya started asking money from Mehta, saying that his mom and grandmother had cancer and he needed to pay huge amounts for treatment. “Initially, he started taking Rs 6,000 to 7,000 each month and once I informed my husband about this, he stated there was not anything wrong in serving to a needy person,” Mehta stated.

Around a yr in the past, when Acharya left his mobile phone at Mehta’s home, she browsed through the picture gallery and found her morphed footage. “When I faced him, he threatened to inform my husband,” she stated. On March 27, Acharya got here to Mehta’s house and asked for Rs 2 lakh. But since she didn't have that much, he demanded Rs 35,000 no less than. “But once I refused to provide him that, he significantly thrashed me, took out a phenyl bottle from the bathroom and forcibly made me drink it.” Later, Mehta and her husband filed a police grievance.
