Wipro investigating potential breach of some employee accounts

BENGALURU: Indian IT products and services firm Wipro Ltd said on Tuesday a few of its worker accounts could have been hacked due to a sophisticated phishing marketing campaign and that the corporate had introduced an investigation to include any potential affect.

The Bengaluru-based company was responding to a Reuters query after a cyber security blog said Wipro's techniques have been breached and were getting used to release attacks against a few of its clients.

The blog, bringing up nameless sources, said Wipro's techniques were getting used to focus on a minimum of a dozen customer techniques.

"We detected a potentially abnormal activity in a few employee accounts on our network due to an advanced phishing campaign," Wipro said in an emailed remark.

The company also said it had retained an unbiased forensic firm to assist within the investigation. Wipro didn't say which clients, if any, have been compromised.

Wipro is scheduled to report fourth-quarter results later within the day. Larger competitors Tata Consultancy Services Ltd and Infosys Ltd kicked off the Indian corporate results season on Friday, pronouncing they expect continued strong expansion within the new monetary yr after posting strong fourth-quarter numbers.
