Vigilance Bureau arrests SDO, JE, clerk in Mukerian, Patwari in Jalandhar


JALANDHAR: A sub divisional officer (SDO), a junior engineer (JE) and a sub divisional clerk (SDC) of Water Supply and Sanitation Department in Mukerian had been arrested through Vigilance Bureau(VB) after they had been receiving Rs 23,000 bribe from a upkeep contractor.



VB SSP Diljinder Singh Dhilon stated that Chabbewal based Sanjeev Kumar had informed that he had bagged contract of the dept for annual upkeep in Hajipur space as his bid used to be at lowest charges however his pending bill of Rs 1.45 lakh used to be now not being cleared through the officials. “When he met JE Manjeet Singh he took him to SDO Gurbachan Singh Dadwaal and either one of them requested for money. They demanded Rs 25,000 and after all after much persuasion they settled for Rs 23,000,” Dhillon stated.


On Tuesday when Sanjeev Kumar went to their office, they took him to the office of SDC Navdeep Singh who accredited the marked forex notes and straight away VB sleuths led through Dalbir Singh raided and caught them red handed, recovered the forex notes and arrested the trio.


Meanwhile in a separate case Patwari Harwinder Singh and his aide Donal Taneja, who used to be hired through the previous on his personal, had been arrested while accepting graft money of Rs 19,000 from native resident Raj Kumar. They had demanded the money for entering mutation of his ancestral area in earnings file and had settled general Rs 80,000 for the purpose after first of all difficult Rs 1.50 lakh. On Tuesday they accredited section cost of Rs 19,000 after they had been caught red handed through the VB sleuths.
