Two men mug cabbie on Pune-Satara Road, rob him

PUNE: Two unidentified men threatened a cab driving force looking forward to passengers on Satara Road in the early hours of Monday and robbed him of a mobile phone and money, jointly worth Rs11,000.

The cab driving force Suraj Iranna Shahabade (21), who hails from Solapur and recently resides at Dhankawdi, has lodged a criticism with the Dattawadi police.

Senior inspector of the Dattawadi police Devidas Gheware said, “We have ascertained the id of the robbers. They are criminals on police record. We will soon arrest them.”

Sub-inspector of the Dattawadi police Kuldeep Sankpal, who is investigating the case, said that the complainant Shahabade is pursuing a trade degree from a faculty in Solapur. “During the holidays, he had come to Pune and started working as a driving force with a cab aggregator to help his family,” Sankpal said.

Sankpal said that on Monday, around 4.30am, Shahabade was to select up passengers close to Panchami restaurant on Pune-Satara Road. “He had reached there on time and he was looking forward to the passengers when two men driving a bike at the mistaken facet of the road stopped close to the cab,” he said.

The men allegedly threatened Shahabade and compelled him to step out of the vehicle. As soon as he got down, the duo snatched his mobile phone and Rs830 from his wallet all jointly worth Rs11,000. They later fled at the motorcycle.

Following the incident, Shahabade immediately approached the Dattawadi police and lodged a criticism. “We have registered an offence of theft and introduced a search for the duo,” Sankpal additional said.

Over the last few days, that is the second one incident of a cab driving force being robbed. In the early hours of Friday, two masked men threatened cab driving force Deepak Ingle, who was looking forward to passengers, close to a PMPML bus prevent alongside the Katraj-Dehu Road bypass. Ingle lost his automobile and mobile phone, completely worth Rs6 lakh, in the theft.
