Ludhiana: The Ludhiana municipal company has warned building inspectors in opposition to sheltering encroachers through issuing best challans for now not establishing structures as according to laws. The building inspectors had been told to demolish the illegal part of building in an instant.

Issuing a letter to building inspectors, assistant town planner S S Bindra cleared that it is their duty to check the illegal construction of structures.

A city-based RTI activist Rohit Sabharwal had made a complaint in opposition to MC officers, accusing them of giving safe haven to encroachers through issuing best challans. He had alleged that MC officers fulfil the formality through issuing challans to defaulters, however take no motion in opposition to them. In the meantime, the illegal structures get completed.

Acting on his complaint, Bindra has issued warning to the building inspectors that they must regulate the ongoing construction work in their respective areas and in the event that they factor challans for illegal construction and to find that illegal part cannot be regularized, then it must be demolished in an instant.

Bindra said building inspectors are liable for curtailing illegal structures in their areas as they've the powers to factor demolition orders. He said in case they are going to now not take motion, then they are going to have to stand motion.
