SPPU lets students share meals in mess

PUNE: The scholars at Savitribai Phule Pune University were allowed to proportion their foods on Tuesday at the refectory, following protests in opposition to a rule prohibiting thali-sharing.

The scholars have demanded that the contentious round about new laws within the refectory be revoked in in the future, failing which they mentioned they will write to the governor.

The Chatushrungi police have booked 12 scholars for assaulting a safety guard at the university premises. But the scholars are in the dark about who was named.

“We have not got a decision from the police or the management but. But I got to hear that my identify too was mentioned within the complaint. The university is portraying as if we intentionally hurt the guard or were the reason for the wear and tear caused to the door. We have movies which show that the guards used lathis to forestall the scholars and got hurt within the scuffle,” a pupil mentioned.

Another pupil mentioned, “I heard my identify was integrated within the FIR. Whereas I used to be not even at the agitation. The university is trying to quash our agitation by means of exerting pressure on us.”

The scholars were booked underneath sections 353, 332, 143, 149, 147 and 427 of the Indian Penal Code.
