Row over price of water at New Town café

KOLKATA: An argument over the price of packaged consuming water at a New Town café between the body of workers and two shoppers led to allegations of bodily assault and irrelevant behaviour. The incident happened on Monday evening. A man and a lady, who visited the café, narrated their revel in on Facebook and lodged a police criticism.

“We reached the café at 7.15pm and our food was once served 45 mins after striking the order. After making the payment, we realised we had been charged over and above the MRP of packaged water. When we requested the rationale, the body of workers of the café started misbehaving. When we protested, the executive and his employees assaulted me and my buddy. I also had to slap one particular person so as to protect myself, ” the woman wrote in her social media put up.

Other shoppers came to the rescue and took the duo out of the café. The supervisor, then again, said no one was once assaulted. He said: “The guy accused us of overcharging the water, however it is an industry norm. They started abusing our body of workers and aggravating other shoppers. We have started a probe.”
