Road built after protests has potholes in a month

GHAZIABAD: The citizens of Indirapuram’s Ahimsa Khand, who had threatened to go for NOTA if the roads weren’t repaired and the world not free of encroachers, may have managed to spur the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) into motion. But inside of a month, the road constructed via GDA now lies broken and filled with craters, gathering drain water in many spots.
Before the April 11 election was held, representatives of 22 societies of Ahimsa Khand had on March 15 said that they might press the NOTA (none-of-the-above) button if the company did not deal with the issue. The GDA had began work inside of three days.

“We had apprised public representatives and officials of our decision to go for NOTA if roads don't seem to be constructed. We idea that the power worked and GDA wrapped up the construction work just earlier than polls,” said Alok Kumar of Federation of Apartment Owners Association and a resident of Arihant Harmony in Ahimsa Khand. “But inside of days, the black topping (of the outside) has eroded and the potholes and craters are again,” added Kumar.

Sally Singh, a resident of Exotica Elegance society, said that close to DPS Indirapuram, the situation is so pathetic that drain water has spilled on the roads. “The potholes are filed with drain water and pedestrians are continuously greeted with a splash each and every time a automobile passes,” said Singh. “It speaks of the seriousness, or slightly the loss of it, on the a part of GDA, which has basically fooled citizens,” she added.

GDA’s leader engineer VN Singh said they have received court cases from citizens. “We were beneath public power when we began work on the road and ideally we would have liked more time,” he said.

He denied that sub-standard material were used. “The road was broken due to spilling of drain water,” he said. “We have drawn a long-term plan to tackle the drain problem. A consultant was hired however that's not going to occur in a single day,” he added.
