Parties can’t lock up strong rooms: EC


HYDERABAD: Telangana CEO Rajat Kumar refused the plea of BJP MP candidate Arvind Dharmapuri and stated that no political party can be allowed to lock up strong rooms with their very own keys. But Kumar advised Dharmapuri that he could check up to the first-level of safety layer and examine CCTV photos.


Apartf from in the hunt for permission to lock the strong room, Dharmapuri additionally filed a separate RTI application in the hunt for information of Register of Voters (Form 17A) of the entire polling stations of Nizamabad. He met Kumar on Monday.


Rajat stated, “Regarding RTI application, we will be able to give a detailed reply. Form 17A and 17C are saved in conjunction with EVMs and VVPATs within the strong room and no political party, or even ECI officers, can access them till they're opened at the day of counting.”


Regarding unused EVMs kept outside, he stated, “I haven’t won one of these criticism. All A and B category EVMs, used within the election process, are saved in strong rooms. The C category EVMs, which have been found to be defective all through the first-level check and ridicule polls, are being despatched to ECIL and BEL for maintenance. The D category EVMs, which are state reserves, were shifted to the State Central Warehouse in Medchal, Malkajgiri district.”
