Modi government brought peace, development to North East: Amit Shah

BORDUMSA: Exuding self belief that BJP can be re-elected at the Centre, party president Amit Shah on Friday stated it was the Modi government that introduced peace and building to the northeast, where militant actions have been rampant even 5 years in the past.

Addressing a rally here in Changlang district, he stated the saffron party is committed to do so towards cross-border terrorism and insurgency in the region. He insisted that ‘political balance returned to Arunachal after BJP formed government in the state.’ “Even 5 years in the past, the northeast region was disturbed. There was hardly ever any building owing to militant actions and other roadblocks. BJP has introduced peace to the region and paved means for its building,” claimed Shah.

Describing the people of Arunachal as ‘patriots’, he stated this Himalayan state withstood the Chinese onslaught in 1962 even when then PM Jawaharlal Nehru, in a observation, expressed his helplessness for Assam.

The BJP chief pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has steered his ministers to discuss with the NE states each and every fortnight and resolve the problems of the region. “All parts of the northeast now have air and rail connectivity. In Arunachal by myself, the federal government has sanctioned Rs 50,000 crore to expand roads,” he stated.

Highlighting the achievements of the NDA government for Arunachal, Shah stated the state was the primary in the northeast to get its two cities — Itanagar and Pasighat — into the list of sensible cities besides air services and products to Pasighat and Tezu under the UDAAN scheme.

Hitting out at Congress, Shah stated, “The Grand Old Party made no effort all the way through its tenure to root out terrorism and corruption from the country.” He additional added, “When Modiji took motion towards Pakistan-sponsored terrorist teams by way of ordering an air strike on their camps, after the Pulwama attack, a pall of gloom descended on Pakistan and on the face of Rahul Gandhi.”

Pointing out that Morarji Desai was the ultimate PM who attended conferences of the North Eastern Council, he stated it was Modi who attended the convention in Shillong 40 years later.

From Arunachal Pradesh to Kanyakumari, Assam to Gujarat, the BJP will shape government, Shah stated, adding that the successful streak of the party has began on this state. “It is for the primary time that BJP is combating all the meeting seats in Arunachal. Our successful streak began on this region when three MLAs of our party have been elected uncontested,” he added.

Three party applicants were elected unopposed in the state from Aalo East, Yachuli and Dirang meeting constituencies.

Praising Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu for his efforts to usher in building in the state, the BJP president stated the state government organised ‘sarkar aapke dwar’ (government at your doorstep) in almost all the districts to achieve out to as many people as imaginable. “It is as a result of the NDA government that Arunachal got its first clinical school,” he added.

Arunachal Pradesh is going to simultaneous Lok Sabha and meeting polls on April 11.
