LS polls: 61.30% turnout in third phase

MUMBAI: The 3rd segment of elections for the 14 constituencies in Maharashtra saw a voter turnout of no less than 61.30% till 6pm. The voter turnout for those seats in 2014 was 62.88%.

As in line with the provisional figures made to be had through the election place of business, the highest balloting was reported from Kolhapur at 69% which in 2014 recorded 71.72% voter turnout. The lowest turnout has been recorded in Pune which recorded 53% which was 54.14% 2014.

These figures are sure to upward push as balloting was still underway in a couple of seats.

All those 14 constituencies had a total of two.57 crore of which 1.33 crore have been males and 1.24 have been women folk. A total of 28,691 polling cubicles have been set up and 1.54 lakh workforce have been engaged within the polling workout.

Additional leader election officer Dilip Shinde mentioned that in one polling sales space in Raver constituency, a voter complained to the presiding officer that whilst he was urgent button for a celebration, the vote was going to another celebration. "After the complaint, the presiding officer cast an extra vote in the presence of everyone to verify the complaint, but nothing of that sort was found," mentioned Shinde.

"After this complaint was found to be false, a police complaint has been filed against him for misleading the election staff," mentioned Shinde. The individual has been known as Amol Survade. The incident happened at the railway north colony polling sales space, Bhusawal.

In yet another case of a person violating the secrecy of the workout, a case has been registered in opposition to an unidentified individual for appearing who he voted on an app--Tiktok.

Shinde mentioned that a general of 610 VVPATs, 334 ballot units and 229 keep an eye on units malfunctioned all over balloting and have been changed in 15-20 minutes, mentioned officers.
