Independent files papers on Day 1 of nomination

Gurgaon: Only one candidate filed papers for the Gurgaon parliamentary constituency on Tuesday, the first day of the nomination procedure, which is able to continue until April 23. Polling will probably be held on May 12.

Jai Kunwar Tyagi (64) of Daksh, a little bit known outfit, changed into the first candidate to report nomination papers. A resident of Badshapur, Tyagi is contesting as an Independent. Wearing a pink turban and garland of currency notes, Tyagi arrived alone at the workplace of the returning officer and deputy commissioner.

Tyagi isn't positive about the number of votes he might get. “I am contesting as a consultant of farmers and the common man,” he stated.

No nominations will probably be filed on Wednesday as executive places of work will stay closed. “Nomination can't be filed on April 17 (Mahavir Jayanti) and on April 21 (Sunday),” stated a district management official.
