Educationists and officials are scratching their heads over their lack of ability to give a boost to the efficiency of scholars over the years.

Some are of the opinion that promoting scholars casually till class 10 underneath CCE with out engaging in examinations and following no-detention coverage and liberal evaluation in SSLC and I PUC annual examinations are partly liable for the cross share within the II PUC coming down.

“How can a college by which about 80 to 90% scholars cross in I PUC examination have a cross share of best 30 to 40% in II PUC when the similar set of scholars seem the examination?” mentioned an educationist.

Mushrooming of personal unaided schools which don't have proper instructing preparations is one more reason that is attributed to poor efficiency.

“While there are separate training categories carried out for science and commerce scholars through schools and personal tutorials, no special consideration is given to arts scholars. The low efficiency in arts is principally as a result of scholars now not passing in English and Economics,” mentioned Chidambar Joshi, a retired lecturer.

Pvt schools blame govt

If the efficiency of scholars in north Karnataka is not as much as mark, the government and the dep. of PU Education needs to be blamed for it, say educationins. Unlike in South Karnataka, to a big extent the training sector is catered to through non-public managements in North Karnataka.

Aided non-public PU schools are struggling because of scarcity of teaching staff and the apathy of the PUE division in permitting schools to refill vacant posts.

“Stringent laws enforced through the dep. make filling of vacant teachers’ posts very tricky. In rural spaces you can't expect the scholars’ strength according to the prerequisites of the dep.. Citing lack of workload, the PUE division is not allowing recruitment of teachers underneath grant-in-aid and we need to organize with transient staff through paying meagre salaries. It is affecting the standard of teaching,” mentioned a md of a personal aided tutorial institution.
