DCW rescues 3-year-old girl from drunk father


NEW DELHI: The Delhi Commission For Women has rescued a three-year-old woman, who used to be allegedly omitted by way of her alcoholic father and used to be discovered mendacity in her excreta.

Neighbours alleged the daddy would give the woman liquor in her milk bottle when she would cry for meals.

On receiving a complaint on its 181 helpline, the Delhi Commission for Women rescued a three-year-old woman from a room in Prem Nagar on Friday, officials said.

The caller said the woman had now not been fed for 3 days by way of her father.

Based on the whinge, a workforce of DCW counsellors rushed to the deal with and located the minor mendacity in a pool of her personal urine.

She used to be emaciated and gave the look to be seriously ill, they added. The DCW counsellors discovered her father snoozing in the same room, which used to be suffering from empty liquor bottles.

The neighbours said the daddy used to be a drunkard and would now not wake up for hours although his daughter cried due to starvation and dust, the ladies's panel said.

According to the neighbours, the child's mother had died a 12 months ago and the daddy used to be a rickshaw puller, they said.

The father would keep the woman alone within the room, each time he went to work and didn't permit the neighbours to assist him.

The neighbours said they'd observed the daddy give the woman liquor in a milk bottle, officials said, including no person looked as if it would know when and how the person gave meals to the child.

When the daddy used to be forcibly woken up by way of the DCW workforce, he used to be violent and refused to cooperate in taking the child to a health facility, officials alleged.

Following which, the DCW workforce then referred to as the police and controlled to provide the daddy and kid earlier than the station house officer of Prem Nagar police station.


However, no FIR used to be registered within the matter, they said.


"She was running high temperature and had injury marks on the body. The child is being treated at the hospital and is under the care and protection of the DCW counsellors. She will be shifted to a shelter home after being discharged," they said.


The girls's panel is taking up the matter with the deputy commissioner of police, Rohini, as to why no FIR used to be registered within the case and the daddy now not arrested, they said.


Officials said the police also helped within the rescue operation.
