Coaches of Rajdhani uncouple on bridge, none hurt


Bhubaneswar: Two coaches of the Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express were given indifferent from each and every different whilst the train was once crossing the Kathajodi rail bridge close to Cuttack station on Tuesday. Nobody was once injured, resources stated.
The incident took place at 9.50 am, 20 mins after the train commenced its adventure from the originating station of Bhubaneswar. It was once crossing the rail bridge over the Kathajodi river, around 2.five km clear of Cuttack station, when the B3 trainer were given indifferent from the B4 trainer. The loco pilot in an instant stopped the train.

As a results of the uncoupling, the engine was once left connected to the B1, B2 and B3 coaches, whilst those from B4 to B11, pantry automotive, A1, A2, H1 and primary AC trainer remained on the bridge, main to a few panic among the passengers.

Mechanical workforce connected the separated coaches at 10.40 am and ran the train safely until Cuttack station, the place it was once given a once-over by way of senior officials from the Bhubaneswar trainer maintenance depot. “They determined to detach and change the B3 and B4 coaches of the train with two different coaches delivered to Cuttack from Bhubaneswar. As many as 39 passengers of the B3 trainer and 20 of B4 had been moved to the newly connected coaches,” East Coast Railway (ECoR) resources stated.


The train resumed its adventure from Cuttack station at 2.15 pm.


Brajmohan Agarwal, divisional railway manager, Khurda Road, ordered a senior officer-level inquiry into the topic. The record shall be submitted inside 48 hours. “The explanation why for the uncoupling shall be recognized after the inquiry is over. Strict motion shall be taken against the workforce if we find any negligence,” he added.


The ECoR denied reports of the engine transferring forward with out the coaches.
