CM visits temple after campaign ban imposed on him


LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday visited the Hanuman Setu Temple here and offered prayers, an afternoon after the Election Commission imposed a national campaign ban on him for 72 hours for his "provocative" communal remarks.Adityanath took phase in 'puja' and after spending about 20 mins in the temple, he left with out taking any question from the media.


The Election Commission on Monday imposed a national campaign ban on Adityanath for 72 hours for his speech at a rally in Meerut, the place he compared the Lok Sabha elections to a competition between 'Ali', a revered figure in Islam, and 'Bajrang Bali', a name for Hindu god Hanuman.


Following the EC orders, the chief minister may also no longer participate in the highway display of Home Minister Rajnath Singh who will report his nomination papers on Tuesday.
