Chd govt schools' students forced to study in Hindi

CHANDIGARH: Everything appears to be not going smartly in government schools of Chandigarh. A new development has come to the fore, wherein academics are forcing students to review topics in Hindi medium.

On Tuesday, a complaint was made on this regard by parents of a scholar to the district training officer (DEO) towards a instructor in Government Model Senior Secondary School in Sector eight, Chandigarh, who had been allegedly forcing students to review in Hindi medium.

The complainant's parents advised NewsTread that their daughter had studied in a non-public English medium faculty till Class X and beneath the centralised admission scheme for Class XI she was allotted Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector eight, Chandigarh, by the training department.

"Recently, when the new session for Class XII began, her teacher started forcing her to study in Hindi medium. We have brought this to the notice of the principal of the school as well, but nothing has been done so far. Therefore, I was left with no other option but to request the education department to intervene. This matter concerns the future of our daughter," they maintained.

In their complaint to the district training officer, the oldsters have said that, "The sociology instructor for Class XII is forcing children to go for sociology in Hindi medium, bringing up her incapacity to show the similar in English. The students who have already passed the topic in Class XI in English medium are either dictated to go away the topic and opt for any other or are being dictated to take the similar in Hindi medium. This is being achieved while figuring out the fact that the child has already been registered beneath the CBSE in Class XI and no changes may also be achieved without the permission of fogeys.

Moreover at this degree, when students have never studied the topic (social science) in Class X and sociology in XI in Hindi medium, this chance is subsequent to unimaginable."

"It is quite disturbing as well as inappropriate on the part of the teacher as well as the school to even suggest the same, but in this case they are being mentally harassed and forcibly being coaxed to do this in accordance with the wishes of the teacher," they mentioned.

She even knowledgeable the DEO through an e-mail, a copy of which is with TOI, that the topic was highlighted to the principal on telephone, however nothing has been achieved on this regard, leaving the poor students within the lurch.

However, if academics of presidency faculty are to be believed, the issue has arisen since the training department has offered all 3 mediums - Hindi, Punjabi and English in all schools - while the lecturers comfy in educating in each and every language have not been provided.

Also, in some schools the collection of students preferring each and every language differs, following which the students are asked to review in one language best, by which the instructor is comfy or in language that is most popular by the maximum collection of students.

Talking to TOI, Anujit Kaur, district training officer mentioned, "I am yet to see the complaint. I will look into the matter."
