Chandigarh: Snatchers on prowl, save your phone


CHANDIGARH: Forget gold jewelry, snatchers in the town have taken a shine to cellphones. The past 10 days noticed a spurt in the crime with 15 circumstances; the primary 3 months of the 12 months witnessed 36.

Of the 36 circumstances, maximum (25) were of mobile phone snatching, 10 of handbag and one in every of gold earrings. Sectors 34 and 39 police stations registered most circumstances, seven and 5, respectively.


UT SSP Nilambari Vijay Jagdale stated it becomes tough to solve a case in the absence of culprit’s car number and CCTV footage. “Better cooperation among all of the 3 police sub-divisions (east, centre and south) has helped law enforcement officials clear up 75% of the circumstances.
