Cases filed against Naveen Patnaik opponent

BERHAMPUR: Police registered two cases in opposition to Pitambar Acharya, the BJP candidate within the Hinjili meeting constituency in Ganjam district, for allegedly abusing BJD staff and making his supporters threaten them with violence. Hinjili will vote on Thursday.

Acharya, a senior advocate, is contesting in opposition to chief minister Naveen Patnaik. While one case has been registered in opposition to Acharya for abusing one Krushna Sethi at Kulagada under Dharakote police station limits, the second one used to be registered in opposition to him with Sheragada police station for abusing and threatening BJD supporters in Solashola village. "Our investigation is on," mentioned SDPO (Aska) Suryamani Pradhan. Acharya refuted the allegations. "I don't know the complainants. They may have lodged complaints at the behest of Naveen Patnaik," mentioned Acharya.
