BJP leading attacks on language, history of northeast: Rahul

Guwahati: Congress president Rahul Gandhi opened his poll marketing campaign at two constituencies in Assam on Wednesday via promising to give protection to the northeast from the “attacks” led via BJP and RSS at the “language, history and independence” of the region.
At two back-to-back rallies at Bokakhat in Kaliabor constituency, from the place Tarun Gogoi’s son Gaurav is seeking a second term, and Lakhimpur in Lakhimpur constituency, Rahul assured the folks that the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill is probably not handed in Parliament. “BJP had brought the Bill in Parliament. But the proposed legislation was an attack at the language, concept and independence of the folks of the region. We did not allow the bill to be handed then (in Rajya Sabha) and will be sure that it's not handed sooner or later too,” he stated.

Arguing that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been launching a sequence of assaults which threaten the individuality of the northeastern states, he stated, “The NE states are special because of distinctiveness of their problems and Congress had given the region special guns, like the special standing, an commercial policy and separate making plans that was done via the Planning Commission. But Nagpur and RSS are attacking the language, history and independence of Assam. RSS wants to impose its own thinking at the other people of the state. The citizenship bill was one such attack introduced via BJP. Congress won't allow to any extent further assaults at the northeast in long term.”
