Bengaluru: Special lane for flyers with only hand baggage


BENGALURU: Passengers wearing simply hand luggage and a printed boarding pass will now be capable to input the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) through an specific lane (gate no. five), which was once formally inaugurated on Tuesday.

Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) authorities pointed out that 23% of the entire 55,000 passengers departing from the airport daily shuttle with simply their hand luggage. "This dedicated gate promises to reduce waiting time at security checkpoints," said BIAL officials.


"This is an innovative service to provide passengers a hassle-free and delightful travel experience. The opening of a new gate, exclusively for passengers travelling with hand baggage, will further improve the overall operational efficiency of the airport," the officials added.


No trolleys, wheelchairs


Trolleys and wheelchairs can not pass during the specific access. The move was once welcomed via a number of widespread flyers who have up to now complained of long queues at security checkpoints.
