Aligarh BJP lodges plaint against Cong manifesto

AGRA: The Aligarh unit of the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission against the Congress and accused it of violating the code of habits by means of promising to uphold the minority personality of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) and Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) in its manifesto, even when the topic is sub-judice.

In a letter to the EC, BJP’s media incharge Dr Nishit Sharma accused the Congress party of making an attempt to create confusion as AMU isn't a minority institution. He mentioned the Congress has dedicated contempt of the court by means of making any such promise.

He also mentioned that the Congress has dedicated a poll code violation and demanded action against the party.

Former media guide of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Jasim Mohammad also accused the Congress for taking part in politics of appeasement of Muslims. He also wrote to the EC relating to this issue and advised it to take essential action against Congress president Rahul Gandhi for misguiding the electorate with false promises.

Last 12 months, chairperson of National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) and BJP MP from Agra Ram Shankar Katheria had asserted that he would urge the NDA govt to forestall providing grants to AMU in case AMU fails to supply reservations to SCs, STs and OBCs.
