Ahmedabad: NIFT engineer caught with bribe

AHMEDABAD: The Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) anti–corruption wing, Gandhinagar, arrested Pramod Kumar- a junior engineer operating with National Institute of Fashion Technology for difficult and later accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a complainant on Sunday to transparent his pending bills.

CBI officers said the accused used to be produced within the courtroom on Monday. “He used to be despatched to judicial custody,” said a CBI reliable.

CBI resources said the complainant had approached them someday again with a grievance that Kumar has demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 to transparent his pending bills towards the order allotted to him by means of NIFT.

“We laid a trap and despatched the complainant with the bribe cash on Sunday to Kumar’s residence with our crew. As soon as Kumar accepted the cash our crew rushed in and arrested him,” said a CBI reliable.

CBI reliable said that they have got registered a case underneath Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption act, 1988 (amended in 2018) towards the engineer. “We are within the process of amassing extra proof within the case,” an investigator said.
