3 youths held for Rs 2cr iPhone fraud in Lko


LUCKNOW: With the arrest of 3 youths, together with person who holds a civil engineering degree, the cyber mobile of Lucknow police has busted a gang for allegedly cheating a web-based buying groceries massive of about Rs 2 crore in the ultimate two years by means of siphoning off iPhones after tricking their deliverymen and manipulating scratch cards.

Police have recognized the arrested individuals as Dhara Singh (a civil engineering degree holder), Rajkumar Meena (BSc II cross) and Prahlad Singh (a BA passout), all of Rajasthan.


As many as 19 mobile sets, two Apple iPhones value Rs 1.83 lakh in sealed packets, Rs three,300 cash, 81 preactivated SIM cards, several different items and an SUV have been recovered from them.

Police claim they were in the ‘business’ since 2017 and had dedicated fraud in Delhi, Jaipur, Lucknow and different metro towns.

As in line with their confession, the miscreants first applied for online seller at the company website online and availed promotional gift cards, that have been transferred to their Amazon Pay pockets after scratching. They then returned the gift cards after pasting a scratch tape on it and terming it invalid. This means they used to assemble cash in online pockets on a smart phone.

The miscreants then used the money in the pockets to buy smart telephones via online buying groceries. After the deliveryman reached their space to deliver the products, they engaged him in frivolous talks and changed the telephones with another object like soap cake after which place request for order cancellation.


They used to sell the cell phones at grime cheap prices in Jaipur.


The miscreants had additionally made pretend electronic mail IDs the use of pre-activated SIM cards. Even their addresses turned out to be pretend when the corporate officers contacted the home owner.


Their fraud was detected when the online company checked the returned gift vouchers and items they gained as returned items. After the revelation, officers manning the task of distribution of items to consumers in Lucknow petitioned senior police officers, who recommended the cyber mobile to work at the case.


Cyber mobile nodal officer Abhay Mishra said, “We used cyber and surveillance technology to nab the miscreants. They are being interrogated and others involved in the crime would even be nabbed soon.”
