3 held for looting people by cloning their cards


NEW DELHI: Three men have been arrested for allegedly robbing other people by cloning their debit playing cards in east Delhi's Preet Vihar, police mentioned Tuesday.
The incident came about Monday night when one Deepak Sachchar was going to an ATM close to Preet Vihar to withdraw cash. On his approach, he met 3 men who asked him where he was going and then requested him to show his ATM card, they mentioned.


Sachchar showed his RBL credit card and one in all them exchanged it with an Axis credit card. When he noticed this, he raised an alarm, following which they have been nabbed by native police who have been patrolling within the area, Jasmeet Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (east), mentioned.


The accused -- Manoj Kumar Sharma (28), Amit Kumar (26) and Rohit Mondal (25) -- have been arrested and Rs 1,05,000 and two small card readers, one card cloning device and 5 cell phones have been recovered from their ownership, he mentioned.


Some mini statements of ATM playing cards and deposit slips have been also recovered, the DCP added.


Investigations printed that they used to get card-related knowledge and pin numbers from an individual Jamtara in Jharkhand and accordingly, Sharma would get ready the card. Then they would consult with ATMs to check balance and wherever they found big quantity, they would withdraw the money from others financial institution accounts, the DCP mentioned.
