18 sovereigns of gold jewellery stolen in Trichy

TRICHY: Burglars broke open a space in Kumaran Nagar in Trichy on Monday night and decamped with gold ornaments weighing 18 sovereigns.

In his grievance to the Government Hospital (GH) police, Ok Chandran of 16th Cross Street in Kumaran Nagar mentioned he and his members of the family locked the house from within and slept on the first of the house on Monday night.

When they aroused from sleep on Tuesday morning, they discovered the rear door of the house damaged open. They additionally found 18 sovereigns of gold ornaments and 4 silver tumblers stored within the bureau stolen. The total value of the stolen valuables was Rs 1.85 lakh. The police registered a case.

Burglars additionally struck on the office of a finance corporate in Jaffar Sha Street and stole Rs 25,000 in cash on Monday night.

The burglars entered the premises through breaking open the gate and shutter locks.

The Fort police registered a case.
