Shivamogga: K'taka’s 2nd longest bridge coming


SHIVAMOGGA: A bridge between Amabaragodlu and Kalasavalli villages, one of the vital long-pending demands of the residents in Shravasti backwater area of Sagara taluk, is all set to become a fact within the subsequent three years. Once completed, the two.14 kilometre-long bridge would be the 2nd longest bridge in Karnataka. It will also have the honour of the first bridge within the state and the 3rd one within the nation which will likely be constructed using the cableslide technology.

Currently, the longest bridge within the state is the 3 kilometre-long Korthi-Kolhar bridge across river Krishna in Vijayapura.

Speaking to journalists, local MP BY Raghavendra stated the bridge could be built at an estimated price of Rs 423 crore. “All permissions had been bought for the mission. The gentle procedure will get started quickly,” he stated.

This bridge, popularly referred to as Tumari bridge, will connect Sigandur-Chowdeshwari temple with the main land. Every day, loads of devotees discuss with this temple. Presently, vehicles and devotees achieve Sigandur temple using a barge.

“The gentle procedure has been taken up for the construction of the bridge. The paintings should be completed inside 30 months. The a success bidder should handle the bridge for the following ten years,” the MP stated.


“The two primary obstacles including a separate non-objection certificate by means of the Karnataka Power Corporation and forest division had been resolved. Once this bridge is completed, it is expected to deliver lot of changes within the house. It may be most probably to spice up tourism activities,” he stated.


“It will supply direct connectivity between Sigandur-Kollur-Mangaluru,” he stated.


“Local people put ahead this call for before every election. Hope this might not be every other such election assurance,” stated KR Santosh Kumar, a resident from Shivamogga.
