Rs80 lakh cash seized on Maha border


Nagpur: Cash Rs80 lakh, being ferried in two cars, was once seized by a joint team of police and income department at Satnur in Kelvad on Maharashtra-Madhya Pradesh border. The cars had been headed to Nagpur district after they had been intercepted. A day in the past, money Rs7.60 lakh had been intercepted at Deolapar.

Sources within the police department said two cars had been intercepted all over the joint checking under the supervision of district collector Ashwin Mudgal and SP Rakesh Ola. The first automobile (MH49 BB801) had money Rs30 lakh. The second one (MH31 FA 6961), had money Rs50 lakh in it. Prima facie, it’s learnt the money belonged to a ginning mill proprietor.


Mudgal said 36 static surveillance teams (SST) have been shaped across the district for 12 meeting segments. “The newest catch was once by SST Saoner while the earlier interception a day in the past were by Ramtek team,” said Mudgal.


“The money has been handed over to the IT department to find out the cash trail as per legislation and laws adopted after the fashion code of habits is imposed. The cases might be disposed of accordingly,” he said.


Till going to the press, formalities had been underway at the tehsil workplace within the presence of income tax officers.
