Ready to tackle water problem: Deputy commissioner

DHARWAD: The district management has formed a taskforce to take on drinking water problem prone to surface right through the second one week of March, mentioned deputy commissioner Deepa Cholan.
Deepa mentioned on Friday that there has been no demand for added water from any taluk. As a precaution, the management has stuffed some local tanks and there may be enough water to fulfill the prevailing drinking water requirement, she added.

“As the mercury level is emerging, there are possibilities of Kalghatagi and Kundgol taluks going through drinking water shortage. Officials had been put on alert to effectively take on the water disaster and reply to the woes of villagers inside 24 hours,” she mentioned. The DC mentioned budget had been released to recharge borewells, drill new borewells and also hire non-public ones in areas prone to water disaster.

The water table in Kalghatagi taluk has depleted and some borewells have gone dry. Special focal point has been given right here to arrange water via alternative ways, she added.

Dues for literary meet released

To a question, Deepa mentioned the state executive has released Rs three.8 crore for the Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelana held right here in January.

On Pradhan Mantri Krishi Samman Yojana, Deepa mentioned 25,000 farmers who are eligible for this scheme have registered their names in the district so far.
