PCB starts baby feeding facility on MG Road


PUNE: The Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) started a baby-feeding centre at the busy MG Road on Friday.

The facility can be helpful to ladies visiting the area.

As ladies could not feed their young ones at peace because of loss of facility, they were compelled to use converting rooms of commercial shops for the same.

The MG Road affiliation took up the subject with the PCB and the board established the centre at a main location, close to the Cantonment court docket.

Three ladies can use the ability at a time.

“A vital number of ladies come to MG Road and East Street with their young children on a regular basis to buy. They were being inconvenienced as there was no designated position for them to feed their young children. To get to the bottom of this issue, we renovated a room adjacent to the Cantonment court docket and converted it as the centre,” DN Yadav, the executive government officer of PCB, said.

The centre is provided with three compartments, waiting rooms, a consuming water facility and a few toys for children.

“The board may even supply diapers and napkins to the young children free of charge on the centre,” Yadav said.

The PCB spent round Rs25 lakh for the project.

The board’s vice-president Priyanka Shirigiri was instrumental in the back of the speculation of bobbing up with the centre.

“Almost all of the shops have CCTV cameras and hence many ladies weren't comfortable using their converting rooms as smartly. They had been complaining to us about this issue. Following which, I took up this subject with the board,” she said.

She added that all of the elected board members authorized the project at a basic frame assembly.


“It is an ideal reward for girls on International Women’s Day,” she said.


The facility can be open for between 12pm and 9pm.


“There can be a lady guard on the centre. If there's any issue, the users can put up their lawsuits to her,” Yadav said.
