NMC set to run six electric women special buses soon

Nagpur: Though the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) missed the chance to introduce a fleet of six electric-run girls special buses on International Women’s Day, the provider is predicted to start out quickly. NMC is prone to appoint Hyderabad-based Olectra-BYD Greentech Limited as an operator for purchasing, working and keeping up the buses.
NMC has opened technical bids a few days ago. Olectra-BYD is reportedly the lone company in competition.

An professional from NMC’s shipping department informed NewsTread that proposal to open financial bid of Olectra-BYD and provides letter of intent (LoI) has been submitted to the municipal commissioner Abhijit Bangar. “There was once no response in the first spherical. We won bid from a unmarried company in the second spherical after making some changes in the request for proposal (RFP),” he said.

Olectra had donated a standard-sized electric-run bus value Rs 2 crore to NGO Jyeshtha Nagarik Pratishthan in January. It was once an initiative of Nitin Gadkari.

The state govt had approved Rs nine.60 crore for purchasing 30 medi-buses for girls in 2017. The NMC made up our minds to procure six electric-run medi-buses, though the process got delayed.

The plan failed because of administrative delay. At least now, the administration will have to complete remaining procedure and let us launch the buses,” he said.

Bangar said the process will be finished quickly.

Under the mission, the corporate should tie-up with some other company for working and keeping up the buses. The NMC pays for purchasing the buses from the price range won from the government. The company should function and maintain the cars for 10 years. The civic frame pays the corporate on according to km according to day basis for operation and upkeep.
