Man swallows 10 tabs to avoid grilling by cops


BENGALURU: A cheating case accused swallowed 10 pills in Cubbon Park police station on Saturday to avoid interrogation. Akshay Kumar, alias Paul Raj, 29, from RR Nagar, used to be arrested on Friday in a three-year-old cheating case. After generating him before an area court docket, police officers took him into custody for questioning.

"He was a prime accused in the case where an 80-year-old man was cheated of his property. Soon after the case was registered in 2016, two people were arrested but Kumar managed to obtain anticipatory bail. Police moved the high court and got the bail cancelled. Since then he was absconding," an officer stated.


On Saturday, he used to be brought to Cubbon Park police station for questio ning. "When he offered him lunch, he asked for antacids. When our staff gave the tablets, he swallowed 10 of them. We rushed him to Victoria Hospital where doctors treated him ," police stated.


Nigerian arrested for selling medication

Central Crime Branch police officers arrested a 29-year-old Nigerian on drug-peddling fees and recovered 20 grams of cocaine, 9 grams of MDMA and 36 ecstasy pills worth round Rs 3 lakh.


The accused is Joseph Benjamine, a resident of KR Puram, east Bengaluru. He has been overstaying in nation for many years and c laims to have lost his passport. "Joseph said he got the drugs from another Nigerian in Mumbai. We have taken the latter's name and contact number and will nab him," police stated.
