Kodanad case: 2 remanded to judicial custody


UDHAGAMANDALAM (TN): A court here on Saturday remanded the two key accused in the 2017 Kodanad heist case to judicial custody till March 4.

The duo, KV Sayan and KC Manoj, had alleged the involvement of Tamil Nadu chief minister Ok Palaniswami in the heist case in a video released through a journalist in January remaining.

The accused, who were absconding for the remaining two weeks, were arrested remaining night time in Thrissur and produced before the district judge P Vadamalai round 11 PM the day before today.

After listening to the arguments of the federal government and protection counsels, the judge granted the police custody of the duo till this morning.


The accused were once more produced before the judge and were remanded to judicial custody till March four.


The district court had on February eight cancelled the bail granted to Sayan and Manoj, after the state government had contended that the two top accused were hampering the investigation and intimidating witnesses through making public statements.


A guard of Kodanad property, the retreat of late J Jayalalithaa in Nilgiris district, used to be discovered useless on April 23, 2017 in the robbery strive.


Later police arrested 10 other people, including Sayan and Manoj.
