Essence and purpose of Constitution cannot be changed, says former SC judge


Mysuru: Retired pass judgement on of the Supreme Court Justice Shivaraj V Patil on Saturday mentioned that, whilst a government with a majority within the Parliament could introduce amendments to the Constitution, the essence and goal of the code of regulations could no longer be tampered with. Justice Patil, who delivered the Sri Okay Puttaswamy Memorial Endowment Lecture on ‘Indian Constitution: Dynamics’ at an event organised by way of the Vidyavardhaka Law College, mentioned, “The Preamble, elementary rights and duties, the the directive principles of the Constitution can't be altered. People must no longer read Constitution as a textbook. They must hold discussions on the textual content to are aware of it higher.”
