Arms dealer arrested in Delhi, ammunition seized

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police crime branch has arrested a infamous arms broker from Punjab with an enormous cache of 2000 rounds of .32 and .315 bore cartridges used in pistols or sub-machine guns ahead of the overall elections. Efforts are being made to find out the buyer of the ammunition.

DCP G Ram Gopal Naik stated the arrested man Amarlal, a resident of Abohar in Fazilka, Punjab used to be a salesperson at a gun store and had later opened his personal gun industry in Abohar. He is suspected to have sourced the ammunition from suppliers who would buy them from the federal government ammunition factories.

Police stated that he was earlier arrested by the CBI in a case while issuing fake arms licences. During interrogation he informed the police officers that he had sourced the cartridges from a gun store in Ambala and bought them at double the prices to the criminals.
