TN: Summoned for inquiry, cop tries to kill self

CHENNAI: A head constable connected to the Ennore police station attempted suicide via consuming sleeping pills on Friday. The incident got here to light after he collapsed while on patrol duty at Tsunami Colony in Ernavur. Suresh Kumar attempted suicide fearing inquiry for robbing a dealer hailing from Coimbatore of Rs 10,000 on Thursday, police mentioned.

He was once summoned on Friday via the Puzhal police body of workers for wondering. According to a grievance lodged via dealer Syed Ahmed, he was once chatting with his pal in Kalpalayam near Puzhal on Thursday when Suresh, clad in undeniable clothes, intercepted them.

Seeing that that they had parked their automotive within reach, Kumar inquired if that they had halted the car because they fed on liquor, and requested them to blow out.

Kumar then demanded Ahmed’s id card and automotive paperwork. When Ahmed opened his wallet to get his id card, Kumar snatched the wallet from him and took Rs 10,000, the grievance mentioned. Suresh quickly fled the spot on his motorcycle.

Ahmed lodged a police grievance on the Puzhal police station and supplied the registration collection of the bike he had noted down. Police traced the bike to Kumar. To verify the claim of the dealer, Puzhal police inspector Nataraj had requested Kumar to look before him on Friday for inquiry. Kumar was once admitted to a personal health facility in Ernavur for treatment. “We will behavior inquiries after he is discharged from the health facility,” inspector Natraj mentioned.
