Thane: 3 bike lifters held, 21 vehicles seized

THANE: Three persons were arrested for allegedly stealing bikes and different two-wheelers in Thane city, police stated on Tuesday.

As many as 21 stolen motorcycles valued round Rs eight.25 lakh were seized from the accused, deputy commissioner of police (Zone-I) D S Swami instructed reporters.

During a probe following several court cases of such thefts, the police nabbed one of the most accused, Raja Mobiz Shaikh (20), when he was looking to scouse borrow a motorcycle price about Rs 70,000 by using duplicate keys at the CIDCO stand close to Thane railway station on February 1, he stated.

Based on data equipped by Shaikh all over questioning, the police later stuck his accomplice Nana Bablu Pathan (25), a mechanic who used to help him exchange the quantity plate and tamper the chassis quantity, the respectable stated.

Besides, the police arrested someone else, Prashant Jawale (23), on February 7 while he was looking to scouse borrow a motorcycle in Kalwa area, he stated.

With this, the police claimed to have solved 21 cases of motorcycle thefts within the city.

The accused had bought the two-wheelers to other people in some villages for Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 each, the respectable stated.
