Tabloid keeps enthusiasts abreast of artistic events

Belagavi: The tabloid ‘Art Affairs’ dedicated to information about artwork and caricature exhibitions is now into its 5th 12 months. Published in Belagavi, this per 30 days newspaper is distributed throughout a dozen states.
Vishwanath V Guggari, a retired worker of KLES’ Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, began this 12-page tabloid in January 2014. A painter himself, he felt the need for this type of mag.

“Though the collection of painters is small, they’re desperate to learn about trends in this field. We can not expect detailed reports in mainstream media and that’s why we began publishing this mag,” he stated.

He used his gratuity quantity and a few other finances to release it. “We have 2,200 subscribers from Karnataka, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Assam, Odisha, West Bengal, Goa, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Jammu & Kashmir and a few other states. Of these, 1,800 are paid subscribers and the rest are galleries and trusts operating in artwork. If we get 2,000 paid subscribers, we smash even but until then, we need to spend from our pocket,” he stated.

He thanked medical doctors of JNMC for contributing to this e-newsletter. He stated there are a few artwork magazines but they’re in large part limited to their town or state.

Veteran painter BKS Varma, who lives in Bengaluru, stated he has been studying ‘Art Affairs’ since its inception. “Every factor has a pleasant structure and style of presentation. I eagerly stay up for it each month. It performs a crucial function in the growth of artwork of India,” he added.

Another artist Chandan Kumar Dey from Kolkata stated about 30 artists or artwork fans in his town are regular subscribers. “We know what’s taking place in lots of towns in the house of artwork. This mag is well-liked in Shantiniketan, Government Fine Arts Colleges and other artwork establishments in Kolkata,” he stated.

While Art Affairs sources information items, with credit score, from other publications, it additionally has a panel of writers who contribute incessantly.
