Service poor at Chennai airport, finds survey

CHENNAI: The failing quality of passenger provider on the town airport amid the kick-off of the development of an integrated terminal by means of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has come to gentle in a survey by means of Airports Council International (ACI).

The survey conducted among 20 AAI airports showed the ranking of Chennai airport dipped from 53 in 2017 to 63 in 2018. Despite the standard score of the town airport having larger from four.60 in 2017 to four.65 in 2018, Kolkata and 10 others smaller airports were ranked better than Chennai.

The quality score (marked on a scale of 5) of Chennai airport has failed to succeed in the `superb’ score yardstick of 4.75 set by means of the ministry of civil aviation. Meanwhile, Kolkata airport has won a score of 4.79, surpassing the target set by means of the ministry. Airports at Mangalore, Lucknow, Thiruvananthapuram, Indore, Ahmedabad, Varanasi, Calicut, Bhubaneswar, Pune and Srinagar have fared better than Chennai.

A senior reputable of AAI mentioned even though the ranking has dropped, the rise in score presentations that provider quality has stepped forward. “Steps are being taken to support the provider level for passengers in the coming yr while building paintings and other impediments are being treated on the airport.”

Airport director G Chandramouli mentioned, “Kolkata fared smartly as a result of its terminals and area. Each terminal is different. He also mentioned that the airport was once handling 20 million passengers with limited infrastructure. “Other AAI airports, with the exception of Kolkata, which have been ranked above Chennai, sees fewer collection of passengers,” he added. He mentioned steps had been being taken to address passenger grievances on the earliest. “We even won an award from AirSewa for faster handling of lawsuits. When the integrated terminal and multilevel automotive park are ready, we will overtake Kolkata.”
